Five Generations & 145 years of Drilling

Boone Water Systems Inc.  Established " 1868"

 - This 130 year old company is the oldest of which I’m currently aware. D. Boone’s Sons was established in 1868 in Dayton Ohio and is
still located in that city and still run by the Boone Family. Very few records exist from the company’s early days and few details are known. Only memory and some old photos keep the history alive. Boone's first rig was “more than likely manufactured by Boone’s steam powered and horse
drawn,” says Al Boone Sr. several of Boone’s nostalgic, historic rig photographs are featured in the book eighty years of water well drilling,

by Gloria J. swanson.

Al Boone Sr., who is now retired now that his son Al Boone Jr. runs the water well drilling firm (now Boone Water Systems Inc.), says his
ancestors whose likenesses are captured in these photos would view todays water well industry very different from the one they left behind. “ Now there’s no need for re-shoeing the horses, getting wood or coal to fire rig boilers, or for breaking ice in the nearest creek to obtain water for the rig boilers,” he says. But some things stay the same. And that which has endured, says Al Boone Sr. - “treating each customer with honesty and integrity”- is the key to their longevity. Today the company consists of president Al Boone Jr. working along his side and fifth generation sons Al Boone IV & Travis Boone . Boone Water Systems Inc. performs mostly industrial/municipal work, but Al Boone Sr. says they don’t claim a specialty. “It seems all of today’s successful companies are diverse enough to handle what is required to be competitive and profitable,” he reasons. With that progressive attitude Boone’s is sure to thrive into the next century.
